Philosophy
The Michelle Saunders Coaching DifferenceMichelle Saunders Coaching is based on the simple philosophy that you can’t coach someone who doesn’t want to be coached. For this reason, every coaching engagement follows a proven 4-step process that starts with gaining buy-in and agreement from the person being coached.
Observe Step one involves gathering data about the person through personal interaction, observing them in meetings, and interviews with colleagues and superiors. In some cases, surveys are also used to gather information. This process of observation provides a 360-degree perspective of the individual and identifies their unique coaching needs.
AgreementSuccessful coaching depends upon the buy-in of the person being coached and clearly defined, agreed upon goals between the coach and individual. This requires a confidential meeting to determine whether the individual acknowledges and agrees to the need for coaching. Michelle Saunders Coaching will not accept a coaching assignment without this agreement.
EngagementThis phase consists of defining specific, measurable goals and then creating the desired behavioral change. Tools used to initiate change include roleplay, skill building sessions, and targeted feedback in areas such as listening skills, body language, and level of engagement with others. The tools and techniques used are highly personalized to address each person’s learning style and individual coaching needs.
Follow-upTo ensure lasting behavioral change, the Michelle Saunders Coaching process includes homework, ongoing practice with newly learned skills, and continuous feedback based on observation and reports from colleagues and superiors.
