Holly Green

As CEO and Managing Director of THE HUMAN FACTOR, Inc. An experienced business leader and behavioral scientist, Holly has a rare combination of extensive academic training and in-the-trenches experience working in and leading organizations.  As president of The Ken Blanchard Company, she led the established company in a new and more focused strategic direction.  As president of LumMed, she helped launch the startup biotech firm by doing everything from lining up investors to setting the vision and key objectives to structuring the management team.

As a consultant, Holly is frequently hired by FORTUNE 100 companies such as AT&T, Dell Computer, Microsoft, Expedia, Nokia, Sperian, and Google to help them compete more effectively in today’s uncertain markets.  She helps these companies get clear on what winning looks like, and then shows them how to align and engage the resources and energy of the organization to get there.  Market leaders of all sizes have used Holly’s proprietary process, Inform, Inspire and Engage™, to learn how to move fast with focus and flexibility.

In addition to her consulting work, Holly delivers highly acclaimed keynote presentations and workshops to tradeshow conventions, industry gatherings, and business meetings.  A polished and engaging speaker, Holly has presented to hundreds of audiences around the world.  She is one of the highest rated speakers for Vistage, the world’s largest CEO membership group, and has received three Speaker-of-the-Year awards. Holly has headlined numerous national and international conventions.

Holly holds a Bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences and a Master of Science degree in organization development from American University in Washington, D.C.  Her postgraduate studies are in neurophysiology.  She is an adjunct professor at Webster University, teaching courses in the graduate program. She also teaches in the executive education program at San Diego State University, and is the founder of the Management Development Institute offered there.

Holly’s top selling book, More Than a Minute: How to be an Effective Leader & Manager in Today’s Changing World (printed in nine languages and distributed globally) goes beyond the theory of leading and managing by providing practical, action-oriented information. She is a regular contributor to Forbes.com and a highlighted expert on numerous leadership, strategic planning, and innovation blogs.  Holly has contributed to two other best-selling books, Shift Happens, and A Cup of Cappuccino, Vol. II.

Holly is a board member of Total Training, Inc. and KBM Facility Solutions as well as the Chairmen’s Roundtable, a nonprofit organization of senior executives providing pro bono strategic advice to mid-sized businesses.  She serves as a mentor in California State University’s Center for Leadership and Mentoring. She also provides strategic advice and guidance to several 501(c)3 organizations.

Recent awards include 2010 Business Leader of the Year (California State University) and nomination for Woman Business Leader of the Year (National Association of Women Business Owners).

Marilyn Blocker

As the Founder and Managing Principal of Innovation Outcomes, Marilyn consults with organizations in the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors, drawing upon a 30-year background that includes experience in healthcare and the life sciences, high tech, financial services, consumer products, telecommunications, manufacturing, and professional services. Her experience in these industries was gained through various internal consulting and senior management roles at John Hancock Financial Services, Providence Health and Services, Verizon Communications (formerly GTE), The Coca-Cola Company, and a Silicon Valley- based Philips Electronics high tech incubator site.

Marilyn has worked in start-up subsidiaries and business units, as well as corporate and division environments. She has served on senior operating teams at all of these organizations. Her active participation in strategic planning and operational decision making provided exposure to the challenges inherent in all stages of the organizational life cycle. They included high-growth scenarios, M & A integration, restructuring and divesting, downsizing, etc. In addition to leading human resources functions, Marilyn was also formally trained in Quality Management and managed the Quality function for a start-up banking subsidiary of John Hancock Financial Services.

Bringing strengths in the areas of business transformation, innovation, change management, and culture transformation, Marilyn provides services in planning and strategy and in capability enhancement (i.e., leadership and team development, coaching, performance management, succession planning, executive coaching, service function transformation, and more).

A lifelong learner, Marilyn completed an Executive Leadership program at Cornell University after earning an MBA (Masters in Business Administration) and an MSM (Master of Science in Management) from the University of Maryland.

Marilyn wrote for BusinessWeek and for the University of Wisconsin. She also worked as a Loaned Executive for the United Way; served on executive committees for local chapters of various professional associations; and presented at monthly meetings and regional conferences.
